Three short documentary films about Poverty in Scotland
2010 has been declared the European Year for Combating Poverty & Social Exclusion.
As part of the year, three films have been made to raise awareness of poverty in Scotland from the perspectives of young, adult, and older people. Filmmakers worked with students from Kirkcaldy High School, adults from the Clydebank Independent Resource Centre, and The Damned Rebel Bitches from Tollcross Community Centre (Edinburgh) to produce short documentaries.
Through a series of workshops, members of each group researched, planned and executed their films using professional equipment with the filmmakers as creative and technical mentors.
Each film speaks for itself:

Making A Difference is a collaboration between The Poverty Alliance and Document Festival for 2010 European Year For Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, funded by the DWP.
Launch & screenings
The films will be screened at The Scottish Parliament on Thursday 30th September, in local venues where the films are being produced and showcased at Document 8, (26th–31st October 2010, CCA, Glasgow) as part of a day dedicated to poverty on Friday 29th October. We will bring together filmmakers, young people, policy makers, broadcast and print media journalists, students, community activists and professionals from across Scotland to discuss the films, the European Year, the media’s representation of poverty and poverty as a human rights issue.
